RTA urges motorists to follow Salik subscription procedures
Seamless implementation with 95 per cent subscribers
Dubai, February 03, 2008: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has urged motorists
to follow the Salik subscription procedures to ensure easy management of the account
and avoiding inconveniences arising from improper subscription.
Eng. Maitha Bin Adai, CEO of Roads and Traffic Agency within RTA, said that 95 per
cent of Salik subscriptions and usage are being implemented seamlessly. Some inconveniences
reported have largely been because the procedures given on the back side of the
subscription form were not followed or because the subscriber did not contact the
Salik help centre.
She asked Salik users to report any damage to the Salik chips, caused due to accidents
or mis-handling, to RTA. Subscribers should also report lose of account number or
failure to receive credit notification or subscription confirmation SMSs to the
authority.
Eng Bin Adai said subscribers with more than one car that all their vehicles come
under one Salik account. The same Salik account will automatically distribute the
available credit among the cars in proportion to their usage at the Salik gates.
This is the reason why some subscribers receive SMS notifications even though they
do not cross the toll gate more than once. The message received is regarding the
Salik usage of other cars the individual owns.
The RTA encourages subscribers to manage their Salik account and procedures carefully,
and to contact the help centre on toll free number: 800-72545 or by logging to www.salik.ae, in case of any
discrepancies. Bin Adai added that RTA has implemented a sophisticated quality control
system to offer best services.
